Leading Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain’s plan to curb illegal immigration is creating rancor and outrage among scores of Hispanics, according to Univision, the leading Spanish-speaking broadcast outlet.

Cain is calling for the erection of a high-voltage electric fence along the US-Mexico border, and for visible bilingual signs to be pegged on the fence that forewarns trespassers of an inevitable death.

The story is clearly written and suffused in a brand of activist journalism, where the reporter pointedly calls into question Cain’s “inhumane policy” ideas and dismisses the idea that this was a political correctness slip. The reporter backs up her latter claim by quoting past “insensitive remarks” made by the candidate on the issue of illegal immigration, and in an implicit way, the reporter also suggests that Cain is radical and devoid of political pragmatism. More information can be found at: http://bit.ly/pRRRhu
