Data released from the US Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement show that the Obama administration deported nearly 400,000 people from the United States in 2010.

They also say that a little over half of those deported were criminals. The Christian Science Monitor however, deconstructs this claim and shows that the number of hardened criminals deported from the United States is actually much, much smaller.

The math and justifications in this article is very good but I would have liked an expert other than the author to comment further on the numbers presented and how they compare to previous administrations.
